What is Ruqiyah In Islam?

The Arabic word ‘Ruqyah’ derives from the verb ‘Raqa’ which pertains to dhikr or recitation that is written or verbally said for the purposes of cure or protection. As such, ruqyah is the recitation of Qur’an, supplications and remembrances said to treat and remove spiritual or medical ailments.

After the onset of Islam, the prophet (ﷺ) prohibited the usage of such pre- Islamic ruqyah and instead substituted it with what is now known as the Islamic ruqyah In Islam according to the Qur’an and Sunnah. Unlike in pre-Islamic times where ruqyah incantation involved practises of shirk such as casting spells, charms and witchcraft ruqyah in Islam constitutes the declaration of pure words of Tawheed, such as the recitation of Qur’an, seeking refuge, dhikr and supplications that are used as a means of treating various types of ailments and in particular an effective remedy against Sihr, Jinn possession and evil eye. “And from the evil of those who practice witchcraft when they blow in the knots” (Qur’an 113:4). Ruqyah treatment works to undo these knots and remove evil forces and bring relief and Shifa to the afflicted patient.

The experience with Mr Khubaib Shahid Dahlvi has been a very practical one. His approach is very positive and he never further depresses the person who is already under stress because of his problems and encourages them to be regular in prayers and dua. He also advises to do azkar for protection. The guidance/ treatment has strengthened our faith in Allah Almighty.

I have known Mr Khubaib Shahid Dahlvi for almost two years now. He is a real gentle man. I was going through a hard time in my life and i discussed with Usman Yazmani, then he started his ruqiya session and his loyalty towards Deen was unbelievable. He is not greedy, even though if you have nothing, then this man will tell you that you don't need anything, just pray five times a day and do morning and evening azkar. Shiekh Usman's treatment is absolutely shirk free.

Our experience has been great, we were misguided in the past by others for money but Mr Khubaib Shahid Dahlvi corrected us and set us on the right way. He helped us out of a very tough situation and Allhumadulilah we have been in a much better place since then. He reassures one to stay positive and keep hope but also to rely upon God directly and encourages self protection through reading and knowledge.
